All wine growing area are stunning. No good wine is produced in ugly places.
Visiting winemakers allows to absorb their spirit learning about their work and their views in the place where they feel more comfortable and where they give at their best. Sharing wine in the very place where it is crafted, with its maker, is one of, if not the favourite experience of wine lovers.
Organising these visits is of primary importance since winemakers are not monuments, they won’t always be available and visiting the right ones, or visiting very different realities: a 7 hectares property is immensely different than a 100 hectares one. All have their perks. I favour small producers not only because their environment is usually friendlier but because their passion is much better communicated.
Visiting beautiful Burgundy, Etna, Puglia, Langhe, Mosel, Friuli, Basilicata and an endless list of wine growing areas might require some preparation and knowledge to fully exploit an holiday, fitting into it visits to winemakers with all the culture, beauty and bounty of each of these places.
I like to help to organise, or organise wine oriented holidays, suggesting and contacting winemakers and arranging the visits plan. My favourite areas are Southern Italy, Puglia, Basilicata, Etna and the rest of Sicily, Campania, Abruzzo, Marche, then Friuli Venezia Giulia and Burgundy.
